Overplay is an op-selectable setting offered to help minimize songs from being overplayed in a venue, which could kill the vibe or have other negative effects.
When Overplay is ENABLED, the feature operates before the song is added into one of the queues (Normal or Fast Pass play queue).
- The setting looks at both Normal and Fast Pass play queues, but does not take into account the song currently playing
- Behavior is as follows:
- Song A is in a play queue
- Another user chooses song A to play
- The users credits are taken, song A 'appears' to be queued successfully to the user, song is not added to the play queue a second time because it is already in the queue. There is no messaging to tell the user their request was not added an additional time to the play queue.
- If song A is in the Normal play queue and is played as a Fast Pass, it is moved up to the end of the Fast Pass queue. If it is played as a normal play, it is not added again (overplay).
- If song A is in the Fast Pass queue and is played as a normal or Fast Pass play, it is not added again (overplay).
- This will be the behavior for as long as song A remains in a play queue. Users could choose song A 20 or more times, and as long as song A is already in a queue, it will not be queued additional times.
This feature can be activated or de-activated in two ways :
- On the Operator screen > Music Options > Overplay
- On Tempo > Location > Music > Settings > Overplay
This feature works the same way on G3, G3+ and OS2 Software.
